Perfection

I have been accused, recently of having a perfect, fairy-tale life.

Me?
Of all people!

You know the hard work it takes to get up day after day to the same routine:

keeping house,
teaching children,
planning,
preparing meals,
scheduling,
ref-ing,
hauling,
mending,
serving,
noticing,
working,
etc.
etc.
etc.

Did you hear what I said?

Hard Work.

Things that are worthwhile all come with a price.

Hard Work.

Time.

Effort.

Sweat.

Tears.

Scrapes.

Bruises.

And after all this, there is no guarantee of the outcome. Whether I am making dinner or guiding a child, I put forth my best effort and then with a measure of blessings from my Heavenly Father, I hope for the best.

Sometimes, I burn dinner or it just tastes like "poop". (an actual quote!)

Sometimes, my children act like they were raised by banshees.

Sometimes, I get so caught up in my shortcomings that I wander from room to room not knowing what to do first... for days on end.

THAT IS LIFE

We all have those days.

Get over it.

I am blessed.

I am happy because I choose to be.

Now, GO BE HAPPY!

I have thought while reading your posts that your life and family seem perfect. But learning from those who raised you I knew you chose to be what you were, happy! Your positive outlook is what makes it seem like a fairytale, what make it a fairy tale. Like the missing camera post. Some might have been mad, you found positive and I love you for that!

LOVE this post Jen!
Amen!
Thanks for the inspiration and boost on a day when I needed it!

I think you left out one important mother sacrifice--lack of sleep from the combo of teens and toddlers. From one sleepless mom to another . . .
WE ROCK!

What an accusation!!!! Perfection, pshaw! You sure are a great mom and example to me, though. :)

Yeah, so I'm uber behind on checkin up on you and your blog.

This is a fabulous little post, and oh so true. People only see brief glimpses of our lives, whether it's blog reading, or seeing you at church or whatever. No ONE has a fairy tale life, no matter what we think. You said it all perfectly here. It's work every day. EVERY FREAKING DAY! But, good for you for choosing to be happy and making the most of it.
